For the project Encounter we have two lead roles Diego and Loretta.
Diego

Luca Costa comes from Valdengo (BI), a little town located in North Italy and moved to California on May 2000. He's pursuing a film and TV career. He got his first role in a feature film last year directed and produced by Matt Hals (Fake Film), Director of 'Encounter' (Premiere on August 15th 2003). He has an agent in LA (Ray Cavaleri and Assoc. 818-955-9300) and often flies to southern California to audition for movies and commercials. When he's not working or performing he enjoys Horseback riding, guitar and fencing.
Loretta

Pia Shah has been studying at the American Conservatory Theater's Studio A.C.T. program for the past year. She most recently played the lead role in Series for a Boudoir, an original play directed by Nirmala Nataraj, at the Femme Potens art space. She also did a reading of Tanya Shaffer's Baby Taj: A Monument to Love, directed by the wonderful Jeffrey Bihr, at UC Extension's Richardson Auditorium. Her film credits include the lead role in Godplex, by Americo Alvarenga, and her feature film debut (as a young suicidal bride) in Mitsein, by Aparna Malladi, both due out this fall. She is represented by JE Talent.

Travis Thoms is a California native who is hopelessly stuck in the 80's and still uses terms like "hoser" and gnarly" in everyday life. He graduated from U.C. Irvine with a Master's Degree in Chemistry, and pursues his loves of art and science with equal passion. He is currently working as an actor stationed in the SF Bay area, has agent representation, and is pursuing work in film and television.

(Casting

Director)

Deirdre McGruder is not an actress, but she gleefully pretended to be one for this production. The Alabama native is no stranger to performing, however; she was a debutante queen, played clarinet in her high school and college marching bands, and portrayed a dead person in a high school play, where she got so into her character that she almost fell asleep onstage. Her words to live by come courtesy of the movie "Steel Magnolias": "If you don't have anything nice to say, come sit by me."
